From May 20th to 22nd, 2025, the University of Seville hosted the 99th Executive Committee meeting of the International Energy Agency’s Technology Collaboration Programme on Energy Storage (IEA TCP-ES). The event brought together leading international experts in thermal energy storage, providing a valuable platform for discussions on technological advancements and future challenges in the sector.
Promoting the HYBRIDplus Project
During the meeting, we had the opportunity to present the HYBRIDplus project, an EU-funded initiative coordinated by our team. The project aims to demonstrate an electrified thermal energy storage system based on Phase Changing Materials (PCM) in a cascade configuration, designed for the next generation of hybrid Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants using advanced supercritical CO₂ cycles.
The project’s objectives are strongly aligned with the technical focus of the IEA TCP-ES, and it was met with great interest by the attending delegates, reinforcing the connection between collaborative research and industrial innovation.
